It's Not Goodbye Forever

online yoga yoga yogasport May 04, 2020

To my beloved YS Community, I am writing to let you know that YogaSport Dallas is closing our physical studio doors. I have been grappling with this decision for some time now and the COVID-19 crisis has left me with no other option.

As my husband and I began to undo the physical space that is YogaSport, memories upon memories came flooding through my mind. Every picture, every nail, every item in that studio has people and a story and a memory behind it. While I could only keep a few of the physical items from the space, the community and the heart that filled it will stay with me forever.

I have stayed up endless nights trying to write this letter and it just never seemed quite right. I would never leave a party, certainly not my own, without saying a proper goodbye to everyone there. So I have created a very personal podcast for you. Nicole Esquino, who many of you know as the former manager and teacher at YS, and I have a regular podcast together. We...

It's the end of an era. YogaSport, my Power Yoga studio, is closing its physical doors on her 16th birthday, May 15th. Nicole and I sit down the night before I announce the news to my community. She interviews me and we discuss everything from opening the doors in 2004 to biggest challenges, proudest moments, and what is next. This  podcast was a way for me to process the change and share with my community, since the COVID-19 crisis didn't allow us to do it in person.

Pod #72 - Season Finale

podcast Jan 08, 2020

We are sad to say that this is the season finale of Spark season #2. But the ladies WILL be back. In this episode, they take a stroll down memory lane and share some of their favorite moments from this season (and even a few throw-backs to season 1). If you haven't listened to all of the episodes, this is a great cheat sheet of episodes to start with.

Favorites:

  • Episodes 63 & 68 with dietician Taylor Stolt. Nicole especially loved the functional medicine approach to healing. Both ladies were also fascinated that sugar addiction is real and sometimes will power has nothing to do with being able to avoid it.
  • Episodes 60 & 61 - Detox Your Home - The How & Why. Nicole discusses how these two episodes blew her mind and what changes she has already made. We love the empowerment piece here. Oh, and listen in for a funny story about little people eating toothpaste.
  • Episode 62 - Stress with Thom Allen - We love all of the discussions around mental health...

Reflection - A Cat's Love

On New Year's Eve, three years ago, my cat became gravely ill and I made the gut wrenching decision to put her down. It's sort of amazing to think about it now. As I type this, tears well up in my eyes and I feel the same emotion I did on that day. I miss Bella so dearly, I think of her so often, and I can barely get myself to read this post. I hope you enjoy my writing from 3 years ago where I talk about the lessons and the love I felt from such a sweet, smart, and sassy feline. And I invite you to tell me about your fur babies and how they have helped and inspired you in your life.

Original Post:
Nineteen years of cuddles, comfort, and play. It’s only been a day since my sweet kitty has been gone, but I miss her more than I imagined was possible. My heart physically aches. She was my best friend.

We were both babies when we met. She was 6 months old and I was just a 20 year-old college student. Together we lived in San Antonio, Austin, Boston, and Dallas. We had...
